Alone I sat, mending my broken heart
On my thighs laid each part, extremely
worn out from love’s wrath
But my eyes were hopeful, they always looked out for something beautiful
There! the sky was dark blue and it promised of something new

I sat in the cold of the night, not once did I hope for a glimpse of light
My eyes were thick red and my veins; worn out from all that they bled
Ignoring the appalling scars, my lips smiled at the stars
And again! the sky was dark blue and it promised of something new

I sat there, terrified of the unknown; I was certainly living life’s irreverent clone
I prayed for the rain; at least to wash away this lamentable pain
As my nostrils dragged in fresh air, my lungs inhaled as they longed to repair
Oh yes! The sky was dark blue and it promised of something new

This heart won’t be anything close to new at least that I fervently knew
Placing it back to its position, I certainly did not expect a quick action
It was the softest and yet the toughest
Of course! the sky was dark blue and it promised of something new
